Vancouver based designer, Laura Warkentin’s love of design, textiles and sewing began at an early age. Growing up on the Canadian prairies, she spent her youth stocking up on textiles and patterns from her local fabric store. Laura would then transform her visions into her own stylish creations.
As an adult and happily settled on Canada’s West Coast, season after season Laura found herself continually searching for comfortable and stylish coats.
In 2007, Laura decided to enrol in a pattern drafting class. A star student in Vancouver Community College’s Fashion Arts Program, she was awarded the prestigious 2012 Gabriel Levy Scholarship. Continuously balancing design with the demands of motherhood and a travelling husband, she persevered and in 2013 started her own clothing company. So Martha So Mary was born.
Laura Warkentin is an avid traveller, discerning shopper and a stickler for detail. She lives near the Pacific Ocean with her husband, two children and dog, Rukus.
