Joline Stephanie Cadieux, (born June 20, 1994) is a Canadian fashion designer from the small city of Pitt Meadows, BC (about half an hour east of Vancouver). Joline is a fashion graduate from the University of the Fraser Valley with her diploma in Fashion Design.
Throughout her childhood, she has always been an above average height. All through her school life she jokes about often being asked to join the basketball team or be a model. She played volleyball in high school, but it wasn’t until her late teens she realized her height was not an issue, but a strength. She looked into modelling and fashion as a direction and strength; it was then she knew she wanted to be in the fashion world. In her grade 10 year, the 6 foot, 15 year old discovered modelling at her future post secondary school, The University of the Fraser Valley. Taking several Fine Arts and Business classes in high school in order to continue onto UFV Fashion Design.
For one year, between high school and university, she worked at an autoparts warehouse, where she pulled some of her artistic inspiration from. While she worked she continued to build on her modelling career. In 2012 she participated in Vancouver Fashion Weeks model training as well as Faces West Model Conference. Joline says that, “being there felt right at home. When I met Coco Rocha, I wanted to ask her about every designer she had worn. That’s when I realized I enjoyed the fashions and wanted to continue to pursue design and put modelling aside. Unfortunately, when you’re starting out, modelling is not a side job.”
Her time at UFV was from 2010 – 2015, where she modelled for the 5 years and was a student for the last 2. Each graduate was to produce , a swimsuit, bustier, jacket, and coat. In their final semester they were to produce a collection with three finalized outfits. Joline produced her “Street Lights” collection, constructed with innovative fabrics; lustrous copper foil, to the architectural and springy mesh.
Immediately after the show, the founder of Vancouver Fashion Week, Jamal Abdouraham, scouted her out and from him she received an invitation to be sponsored for the Spring Summer show. Now she is gearing up for a fabulous show this September and is extremely grateful and excited to share this opportunity with fashions upcoming designers.
