My name is Pam Jackson and I’m a jewelry designer from Vancouver, Canada I crochet, knit form and wrap sterling silver and 14k gold fill wire, embellished with semi-precious gemstones and freshwater pearls, into little works of art to wear. The Street Cat Designs name was chosen for the most lovable feral cat you could ever meet. He had lived on the street all of his life, until we saw him run onto a busy road and get hit by a car. We rescued him, adopted him and loved him. The name also gives a nod to me . As a teen, I too, had lived on the street, so this pays homage to both of our wills to survive.
I like to take inspiration from fashion, past and present, my surroundings in beautiful BC, and more often than not, just the jumble of gemstones that invariably happen on my desk. As I pull gems for a design I have in mind, then another and another, something magical happens and other, absolutely organic combinations form. Those are the best, and truly the most striking. Those combinations tell me what design they most need to be showcased in, and there it is…a truly unique piece of Street Cat Designs.
