As fashion designer, Song Ryoo firmly believes there is no boundary separating design – that a single inspiration has the capacity to develop ideas for clothing, furniture, and a range of design products. Growing up with an interior-decorator mother, Ryoo lived in a geometrical, minimal living space full of Scandinavian design elements. This informed her eye in terms of shape, line, and form. Ryoo views herself as an artist first and foremost, who demonstrates a cutting edge talent of generating a new life-style concept for her clients.
Parsons graduate Song Ryoo launched her first women’s capsule collection in 2016. Her Label Song Ryoo embodies feminine yet mannish style, breaking boundaries between each design fields. Drawing inspirations from everyday elements surrounding the designer, Song Ryoo produces tailored and minimal collection with geometrical shapes and moody emotion. Also, not limiting the label as conventional fashion brand, Song Ryoo pursues to collaborate with artists from various fields in order to create a world for the customers.
Ryoo was selected as Designer of the year Womenswear Finalist and Kering X Parsons + Vogue.com 2016_ Empowering Imagination Finalist this year. Also, Ryoo was selected from among her peers to receive sponsorship by Luxottica, Lineapelle, and Cobbler Concierge.
