Jocelyn Bada has always loved fashion . As a child she would have her mom sew her outfits that she would create. Later she attended art school but ended up getting a degree in psychology with a sculpture focus. It was only after she had an injury that took her out of sculpture that she revisited design with textiles.
Jocelyn always loved cashmere. She has early memories of her grandmothers cashmere brushing her cheek and the instant love her heart felt. Throughout her life she searched for unique cashmere but found it hard to find.
Thus Futa Kashmir was created in 2013, with a desire to give cashmere a new look. She felt cashmere should look as sexy as it feels. Combining her urban experiences with her own personal desires she created this line. Based out of Oakland, Jocelyn believes in working with the community . She creates the designs and works with local weaver, Myrrhia Resneck to make the dreams come alive.
Futa Kashmir is a sustainable, sexy and unique luxury cashmere company using Todd & Duncan yarn exclusively. Many of the pieces have unique embellishments of gold chains and precious gems or handmade custom buttons. Jewelry is made by Sydney of madelegance in Oakland.
Shows to date include LA Fashion Week closing show 2014, San Francisco Fashion Week – Emerging Artist Show 2015, RAW Artist Show 2016, and MODA Safari Show 2016.
